MARCOS-SANTOS WEDDING.
Rachelle Anne Gorospe Marcos and Arturo Gudani Santos, Jr. of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada exchanged married vows this year at the St. Joseph's Basilica, Edmonton. The bride is the daughter of Honesto and Gloria Marcos; the bridegroom is the son of Arturo and Ofelia Santos. Reception followed at a Dinner & Dance at the Italian Centre (Edmonton).

PAGTAKHAN--HADJI-LATIPH WEDDING.
Hermo Pagtakhan and Subaida Hadji-Latiph of Edmonton, Alberta exchanged matrimonial vows at ceremonies conducted at the West Edmonton Mall's Replica of the Sta. Maria galleon. Reception followed at the Fantasyland Hotel Ballrooms.

18th Birthday
Ailynn Aurora Gudani Santos'18th Birthday in September this year was celebrated at a Dinner & Dance at the Italian Centre in Edmonton. The Celebrant is shown front, fifth from left with the Cotillon participants who danced in her honor Ailynn is the only daugther of Arturo and Ofelia Gudani Santos, formerly of Manila and Quezon, the Philippines.

Baptismal
Rogimer "Arjei" Victoria, son of Roger and Marilda Francisco Victoria was baptized at the St. Andrews in Edmonton in November 1997. Arjei is shown above with his parents and godparents at St. Andrews Church immediately after the baptismal ceremonies. A Dinner Reception for over 200 family members, guests and friends followed at the Foody Goody restaurant in the West end.

KUMUSTA KAYO -

Nais kong ibahagi sa inyo para sa Kapaskuhan ang naiibang kaisipan tungkol sa Tatlong Hari. Dadagdagan natin ito ng isa kaya magiging apat sa halip na tatlo. Ayon sa isang kathambuhay, apat na hari ang nagkasundo na dumalaw sa sabsaban sa Betlehem upang dumalaw sa bagong silang na sanggol, and batang si Hesus.
Ang apat na hari ay may kani-kanyang dalang handog. Ang isa ay may dalang ginto, ang ikalawa ay kamanyang, ang pangatlo ay mira, at ang pang-apat ay may dalang rubi, sapiro, perlas. Nagtipanan silang apat na magkikita sa isang pook at nagtakda sila ng oras ng paglisan. Ang tatlo ay dumating sa tamang oras hanggang sa naiinip at nagpasiyang lumakad kahit wala pa ang pang-apat na ang ngalan ay Artaban. Ang pang-apat ay na-antala dahil sa pagtulong sa isang tao na nadaanan niya na nakahandusay sa daan at halos patay na sa tinamong bugbog at sugat gawa ng masasamang tao. Kailangang dalhin niya ito sa pagamutan at ibayad ang mga rubi ara ito mabuhay.
Kahit nag-iisang naiwan si Artaban, nagpatuloy pa rin siya sa paglalakbay patungong Betlehem. Tumigil muna siya sa isang paupahang bahay kung saan nasiksihan niya ang isang sundalo na akmang papatayin ang isang bata bilang pagtalima sa kautusan ng haring Herodes. Madali niyang nilapitan ang sundalo at inalok niya ng sapiro bilang kapalit ng buhay ng bata. Pumayag naman ang sundalo. Kaya lang, hindi na rin niya inabutan ang bagong silang na Mananakop sa sabsaban ng Betlehem.
Tatlumpo at tatlong taon ang nakalipas. Matanda na si Artaban pero patuloy pa rin siya sa paghahanap sa Manunubos. Ganoon din karaming taon ang nakalipas mula ng isilang si Hesus. Sa kanyang paglalakbay, nabalita-an niya ang isang kriminal na nahatulan ng kamatayan sa pamamagitan ng pagpapako sa krus sa Golgota at ang pangalan as Hesus.
Sa paglalakbay niya patungong Golgota ay nadaanan niya ang grupo ng mga kabataang lalaki na handa nang lumapastangan sa isang dalagita. Nakiusap siya na palayain na ang batang babae bilang kapalit ng kanyang dalang perals. Pinagbigyan naman ang kanyang pakiusap.
Bagamat nanghihina na si Artaban dahil sa pagod at katanda-an, nakarating din siya sa Golgota. Mataimtim siyang napatitig sa mga mata ng taong nakabayubay sa krus, at pabigla niyang nasambit: "Ikaw ang taong matagal ko ng hinahanap. Wala na akong dalang handog para ihain sa inyong paanan. Naipamigay ko na ang dala kong mga rubi, sapiro at perlas na talagang nakalaan para sa iyo. kaya narito ang aking kamay, kunin mo," parang nagsusumamo ang tinig ni Artaban.
Tinitigan siya ng taong nakapako sa krus at nagsalita. "Salamat sa handog mong mga kamay kahit walang dala. Wala akong maibibigay sa iyong rubi, sapiro at perlas. Ang tangi kong maihandog sa iyo ay mga patak ng aking dugo. Sahurin mo ang mga patak ng dugong ito at ituring mong natatanging hiyas ng buhay na siyang katumbas ng aking malaki at walang hanggang pag-ibig sa sangkatauhan."

TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND AND COMMUNITY WORKER - GERRY GILONGOS.

Regina- Gerardo Gilongos, honorary consul of the Philippines for Saskatchewan (shown being sworn in by then Ambassador to Canada, Pacifico E. Castro), died suddenly in September, this year, at age 71, at the Pascua Hospital in Regina. Gerry or Manong as he was fondly called will be missed by the Canadian Filipino community in Saskatchewan and in Canada for his kindness, leadership and friendship.
Gerry came to Canada as a teacher after obtaining a Master of Science degree in mathematics from Boston College, USA. He taught in Hodgeville and other rural Saskatchewan communities before retiring in the late 1980's. He then moved to Regina with his wife, Ruth and their two young children, Gwen and Bobby. Before long, he got into the real estate business and with his business acumen, managed to own many revenue homes around Regina.
He was President of the Philippine Association of Saskatchewan (PAS) for two years, President of the Philippine Senior Association of Regina (PSAR), Vice-President of the National Council of Canadian Filipino Associations (NCCFA) for Saskatchewan and Honorary consul for Regina. He was a Recipient of the most Outstanding Filipino-Canadian Award. NCCFA President Cabugao recalled Gerry's visionary ideas at the Council's meetings and conferences and his kindness, his readiness and willingness to help in the Council's undertakings. He is also remembered for his sense of humour that would bring relaxation to otherwise hectic schedules of delegates and members.
Tributes and eulogies were given by Terry Abadiano, NCCFA President Salvador B. Cabugao, Consul Olive Palala of Toronto, NCCFA National Secretary Rhoda S.J. Abada, Author Marcial Aranas, Dr. Alex Cunanan, Dr. Eusebio L. Koh, Gene Lara, Precy Lopez and his daughters Gwen and Lorna.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents Godofredo and Gaudencia Gilongos. He is survived by his wife Ruth and his children Lorna (married to Lev Aynbinder) and Greta (married to Bert Legaspi) of Calgary, Gwen and Bobby of Regina, grandchildren Sandy, Julie, Debbie, and Maurice, his great grandson Brandon, his sister Gilda (married to Mike Yee), his brother Gil (married to Titing) and sister-in-law Encarnacion.
